This time of year, we often hear the phrase "Jesus is the reason for the season". I agree with this wholeheartedly.
Those words rumbled around in my head. As they did, I began to think about what that means in our own lives. I believe that we are in situations, circumstances and opportunities for a season (period of time) and for a reason. We may not ever know the season, and sometimes won't even know the reason. But its not just coincidence or happenstance.
What is my reason and season with The Martketplace? But wait, back up a bit, what IS The Martketplace? It's an eclectic place to relax and discover functional art, friends and fun. I've gathered some artisans who do exceptional work and we have fun each month on the second Saturday. We meet people and show and sell our creations. Honestly, at first I had a different idea about what its function would be. Hubs and I renovated our building with the intent that I could have jewelry shows there. If you know me at all, it won't surprise you to know that I quickly enlarged the vision to what it looks like today. The Martketplace serves artists and gives them an opportunity to show and sell their work. The artisans have built a wonderful relationship and I often think we look forward to one another's company as much as we do showing and selling our work.
Back to my original question; what is the my reason and season with The Martketplace? I think the reason has worked itself out as time has passed. We've now been open for 8 months .......EIGHT MONTHS!! We have clients who reserve time on their weekend to come visit with us. They stick around and chat. They bring their girlfriends or sisters. The Martketplace is not just a place where I can sell my jewelry. It's more than that and it has become exactly what I had envisioned it would be when I wrote the tagline for our marketing...... " an eclectic place to relax and discover functional art, friends and fun."
I'm looking forward to this Saturday. I get to see our clients again, goof around with my fellow artisans and oh.....maybe someone will like a piece or two of my jewelry enough to buy it as a gift for someone special. By the way, this is the ultimate compliment for any of us at The Martketplace. I hope to see you there and we can chat about your seasons and reasons too. I'd love to hear your story.
