Every year at this time, I’m usually getting my new calendar updated, setting goals and making plans for the New Year. I would have this feeling of renewal and ‘start overness’. It’s not the same this year. I'm not setting goals or setting up a new calendar. It has manifested itself in more of a ‘get rid of everything and get refreshed with the new’. I want to get rid of all of my clothes and start over with a completely new look. I want to take road trips and see new sites I've never seen. I want to change my furniture around, DECLUTTER, scan every single piece of paper and shred it. I want to go through my cabinets and literally get rid of anything I’ve not used in the last year (or even 6 months). I want extra cabinet, closet and counter space with NOTHING to put there. I just want to get rid of everything I’ve been looking at for the last year (or 10) and see NEW things. I want everything in my life simplified or changed or new! I have no idea what has brought this on, but it’s a very strong urge right now!
This urge at home has spread to my studio, showroom and The Martketplace as well. In the spirit of this need for change, I’ve infected my fellow artists and we’ve got some surprises for our customers. In case you didn’t know, The Marketplace is a collection of artisans who show and sell their creations. We have a blast with each other but also with our clients who come to see us each month on the second Saturday (which by the way is tomorrow 1/11/14). You’ll notice the changes from the first step inside the door. AND we’ve got more coming throughout the year.
We've got something new for our customers too. For everyone who visits on Saturday, we’ll be giving you an opportunity to stake claim to items you’d like from your Valentine. We’ll have a “Wish List” packet for you to complete as you mosey through our booths. If you find something you would love for Valentines Day, Anniversary or Birthday, simply put your place card next to it. We’ll make it easy for your Valentine too. With the email address you’ve provided for us, we’ll send your Valentine an email with a picture of what you want. And as if that doesn’t make it easy enough, we’ll wrap it for free when they come to pick it up! What a deal huh? You might want to drop a hint to them that it’s first-come, first-serve. Since most of our artisans create original work, items can’t be duplicated. So it’s important that they be the first to lay claim (pay) first.
I’m really excited to be a part of this group of artisans at The Martketplace. This show will be our 9th. Having multiple artisans under one roof for monthly shows has really been a wonderful experience not only for us, but also our customers. Having repeat customers is the ultimate honor. We enjoy getting to chat with you and get to know you a little better each time. We hope you are enjoying it too.
